I.F.S EXAMINATIONS :
INDIAN FOREST SERVICES

What is IFS-The Indian Forest Services examination is conducted every year by UPSC one a year which is held in the month of July. Every year the notification for the examination is published in the month of February in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar, Gazette of India and some newspaper.

PLAN OF EXAMINATION

The competitive examination comprises of two successive stages.
(1) Written Examination
(a) Conventional (Essay) type
It consists of the following paper

(II) Agricultural Engineering
(III) Animal Hus. & Vet nary Science
(IV) Botany
(V) Chemical Engineering
(VI) Chemistry
(VII) Civil Engineering
(VII) Forestry
(IX) Geology
(X) Mathematics
(XI) Mechanical Engineering
(XII) Physics
(XIII) Statistics
(XIV) Zoology

Institute provides guidance for following subjects -

(1) Botany (2) Chemistry (3) Civil Engg. (4) Math (5) Mechanical Engg. (6) Physics (7) Zoology (8) Agriculture

Candidates are not allowed to opt the following combination of subjects-
(a) Agriculture and Agricultural Engg.
(b) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Vet Science.
(c) Chemistry and Chemical Engg
(d) Mathematics and Statistics.

(2) Personality Test (Maximum 300 marks)

After qualifying written exam. students are called for interview.

Educational Qualification :

The candidate must held a Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subject namely Animal Husb. & Vet Sc., Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Statistics or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engg. of any recognized University
Number of Attempts : - Four for General category
- Seven for OBC's category
- No limits for SC/ST category
Reservation : - 15% for SC, 71/2% for ST
- 27% for OBC's
Age limit : More than 21 years but less than 30 years on 1st July of the year of the exam. Upper age limit is relax able up to 3 years for OBC and up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Medium of Examination : English only
Duration : 4 to 5 Month
Fee : Rs.21,000/ for per Subject
  Rs.21,000/ for GS & English (Four month Course)
  Rs.20,000/ for Engineering Subject
  Rs.4000/ for Interview
